I have a 4 3/4 by 5 3/4 inch framed picture which appears to depict Madonna holding the Christ Child. At the bottom right corner of the picture are small printed letters MI and in script Hummel. The back of the frame has a piece of cardboard nailed to the wood frame and on the top left corner of the cardboard is printed the letter B. followed by Hummel. There are no other markings on the framed picture. Any information you might provide would be appreciated. Thank You
If you will get the size and number of the piece and then go to either Allen's Collectibles or Replacements, Ltd. on the internet you can find the current price for the item. If you want more information about it, check your local bookstore for a Hummel book. The number and size will help you date it.
I hope you can help with this. I have a "Madonna Holding Child" hummel with a dark blue cloak. Madonna's head is not draped with the cloak nor halo. Her hair is fully exposed. I am in the process of researching this piece and hope you can shed some light.
I look forward to your reply.

We would really need to know a little bit more about your piece to give any type of value. We would have to know the size... Hummels were made in several different sizes. The mark would also be necessary. Then of course we would need a picture or some discription to know what the name of the figure is! The marking on the bottom would probably identify the piece it is too. You just asked a question that is impossible to answer. Hummel made thousands of figures. Many pieces that appear to be Hummel and are something else. You really need to contact one of our appraisers in your area. Go to http://www.isa-appraisers.org/ISA_form.html and enter your city or state. I'm sure one of our members would help you identify your piece.
Thanks for writing ISA

If you search "hummel marks" in google you will find the mihummel website with a page illustrating the date marks. The identification process of Hummel figurines is more complex than this but you will get started here. RM

I have a kneeling Madonna holding the Christ Child. The mark on the side is as follows
B.Hummel
ARS SACRA
1942 Herbert Dusler Inc.
Does this have a name or is it even a real Hummel.
The paper stamp on the bottom says;
Authentic HUMMEL FIGURE
Produced by Ars Sacra
made in USA
I never removed the green felt to see if there is a mark under it. Should I?
