I have a Cutler Mail Chute Receiving Box. It came from the historic Cotton Exchange Building in Memphis, Tennessee. It too is very similar to the one displayed in the Postal Museum however, mine has more detail and is in better condition. Can anyone help me determine a value??

My neighbor recently obtained a brass letterbox at a garage sale that is said to come out of an old bank in Iowa. We've looked all over the web and can't find any information on what this may be worth. The only information found was at the smithsonian web site pertained to the manufacturer James G. Cutler who originally designed the first mail chute letterboxes.

There are no dates on the letterbox but it looks very similar to the one shown on the Smithsonian site: http://www.si.edu/postal/learnmore/cutler.html

Any information you may have or direction to where we may find more information on the value of this item would be greatly appreciated.

I searched the ISA database for an appraiser but no matches were found in the Portland, OR area

Did you ever get information on this? Also, are they willing to sell it. I am interested.
