It would really be necessary for an appraiser to examine the pieces you have. Its not possible to tell much from your descriptions. There were about 6 companies in New York using Webster as part of their name. Some made sterling...some made plate. Wilcox was a Meriden, CT company that made mostly silverplate. Both companies joined Internation Silver Company which produced items sometimes retaining their old mark.
I'm sure your items are beautiful, but value is slways what someone will pay for the item. Few people use silver plated hollowware now. If the silver is even slightly worn off, re-silvering is a very expensive process.
I have no idea about the shape, size or condition
of your items, however I am connfident that they will not have much value. A 14" Wilcox tray if fair condition would sell for $20-$40 in our market.
If you need someone to look at your items, please go to our wed site (www.ise-apapraisers.org) and follow the links to FIND AN APPRAISER. Put in your city or area and I'm sure you will find someone who can help you.

I have an Elvis Presley book, titleThe Elvis Presley Album of Juke Box Favorites. It was published in 1955. The book says No.1 in the upper right hand corner and cost $1.00. It has about 12 black and white pictures, and 15 songs, with the sheet music. The front and back covers are off, but we have them. It was published by Hill and Range Songs, Inc. Would anyone know the value?
Dr. Billings,
Your item was manufactured by Royal Bayreuth. The factory was established in 1794 in Germany. From your description of the mark, it sounds like your pitcher was made between 1900 and 1920, however a closer examination would be required to be sure. I hope this information is helpful. If you would like to have the item appraised, you can search for an appraiser in your area.
I have a small porcelain, handpainted pitcher [hunter green with three goats]. It is marked Royal Bcyit(?), with a crest, starting from the left of a rearing lion facing, knight facing a horse [perhaps a unicorn]. In the center there is a heart with the insignia p-q and finally a banner prium[?] 1794 and then "Bavaria". Does anyone know what I might be looking at or where I might pursue its origin? It has been in my family for at least 75 years.
Cannot find a question that I posted. Does this site delete them after a certain amount of time? Or if there is no response?
thanks!

Can anyone help? We have some antique oak furniture with what appears to be a german airforce symbol with a swastika branded inside the doors, the mark also has letters and numbers. These pieces came from an old house in France, the elderly owner did not mention the marks. In doing research online I learned that a lot of furniture was confiscated during ww2 to be used by Hilter's military but no mention of marks. We would like to remove the marks but don't want to lower the value of the pieces.
Does anyone know a site where I might learn more on this subject?
hI. I have some wonderful older oil paintings from I'm guessing the 50s era but cannot make out the signature. is there someone who can help decipher signatures? thanks, jill - you can contact me at jpacho@verizon.net
I have two wood plaques with Hummel pictures that have been laquered to the front of each of them. Both plaques have MANCHESTER WOOD HAND CRAFTED IN VERMONT burned into the back of them. I don't know how old they are but my in-laws had them in their antique shop about 25 years ago. The one plaque shows a little girl feeding some baby chicks with Hummel and ars sacra 11614 written on the bottom. The other one is of a boy hiking with B.Hummel 9638 ars sacra written on it. Can anyone tell me how old and what value these hold?
Thanks.
I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this but I have two vases (metalwork). When I got them they had so much corrosion on them (black and green corrosion). I couldn't tell anything from them. I cleaned the bottom first and found a mark that looks egyptian - a square with hieroglyphic looking marks in it. Then in cleaning a section of each of the vases I realized that it does not really look like brass, it is very pale in color. To give you an idea, they look almost like gold. Now, I am sure they are not, but that gives you an idea of the color. I don't know a thing about these and am trying to find any information. I have photos should anyone want to see them. Thank you and I appreciate any help.
It is a good place to ask your questions, however this is the type thing that an appraiser would have to see and hold to be able to determine what the vases are. Since you said the corrosion was black and green...it would seem to indicate that they were brass. The description of the mark does not help much, however it seems to be the type mark used on middle east ware. If there are brass, you may have diminished the value by polishing them, but middle eastern brass vases are not very expensive. You would really need to let one of our appraisers see the vase. You might wish to visit our ISA website (www.isa-appraisers.org) and follow the links to find an appraiser near you.
