By Bill Carner on Tuesday, March 04, 2008 - 10:22 am:Eric
Your bucket was made by the Ellis-Baker Silver Companies of Birmingham, England and New York. The company started in England in 1820 and became Baker Brothers in 1860. In 1897 they opened an American branch. In 1921 they purchased Ellis Silver Company and became the Ellis-Baker Silver Company. It later became a division of Towle. The mark you describe probably would date back to about 1912. Much of the holloware that have the word "England" was made in this country. If the words are "Made in England" then of course it would have been made there.
Giving a value to this item would require an examination by an appraiser to determing the condition, date etc. You may with to go to our web site (www.isa-appraisers.org) and follow the link to SEARCH FOR AN APPRAISER. You could find someone near you that could help you.
Unfortunately there is not much of a secondary market value for silver plated items.
Thanks for contacting ISA

By jakehauger on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 06:42 pm:Hello,
I my father passed away recently and left me a large roll top desk made by Doten-Dunton Desk CO. The desk is in great condition and I haven't been able to find a Doten-Dunton desk like it on the internet to compare to. I believe it is pre-1908 because it wasn't designed with legs but I am just guessing by some of the things I have read on the net. Anyway, I have attached a few pictures and was wondering if anyone would venture to guess it's vintage and if anyone has one like it. Any information would be very much appreciated.

By TeresaBallard on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 07:31 am:I have a Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. hanging coffee pot with the stand. It has two numbers on the bottom. They are 6265 and 124. Can you give me any information about it?

By Bill Carner on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 - 09:34 am:Lora
Your best bet would be to go the the web site of Replacements, Ltd (www.replacements.com). You can find your pattern by searching for the maker and pattern. They will even have a picture of your pattern. They will have some information about the pattern and prices for replacement items.
Thanks for contacting ISA

It is difficult to identify an item without seeing it, especially without good information. I know of no company named "Hallmark" The number would be a re-order number and probably not helpful. You would have to have the piece examined to determine what it is. You can find an appraiser near you by going to our web site (www.isa-appraisers.org) and following the link "Search for an Appraiser". I'm sure you could find someone near you that could help you.

By Bev Reyes on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 - 03:17 pm:I have a teapot on a stand (that tilts to pour) The stand holds an oil burner. The teapot is marked Wilcox Silver plate Co. There are two hammers in a circle. It is also marked Meriden Conn, quadruple plate, with the number 5031. The pot is covered with a five leaf flower design, with the center of each flower 'protruding'.
The base of the stand has the name Annie engraved on it with the date June 27, 1894 (probably engraved for a gift??) The sides of the stand have a design of flowers with a dragonfly (or butterfly) with more flowers beneath it, with leaves.
It is in excellent shape.
Can you please tell me if this one of the original Wilcox pieces & how much it may be valued at?
Many thanks,
Bev Reyes

By Shelley Cotton on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 - 08:57 pm:I'm looking for someone who could help me find out about an antique hammered copper pitcher. Which stans 20 inches tall with no markings. This pitcher was bought at an auction in Iniana, buy an Amish friend of mine. Who since his purchase has been offered double what he paid. But no one can tell him how old the pitcher may be. I do have pictures of the pitcher. My guess on the age is 1800's due to other pieces I've seen.
