Demand for musical instrument appraisers

International Society of Appraisers Forum: Public Forum: Antique Related Questions: Demand for musical instrument appraisers

Is there a demand for appraisers of musical instruments.

I have been a musician for over 25 years and am a collector of antique woodwinds. In years past I have been a real estate appraiser and an insurance adjuster.

Now that I've "retired" I'd like to do something in the music world. Short of reviewing insurance claims, is there any market for analysis of musical instruments out there.

We world-wide have 8 or 10 members of ISA who list musical instruments as their specialty. My suggestion is to click the Search for an Appraiser link at the left and search for these in our database. You might contact some of them about opportuities for this.

For sure, if you decide to become an appraiser, the best organization for you would be ISA.
