In the early 20th century Sears Roebuck offered several different models of violins. Their 1902 catalogue list a Stradivarius for $2.45. The Genuine Stradivarius Model was $6.95. They also offered a Maggini, Stainer, Amati, Guarnerius, DaSaio, and others. If it has a paper label inside, it is probably one of those. The paper label looks convincing...even has the proper dates. They didn't have printed paper lables back then!!!
Im sure you can click on the Search for a Appraiserlink at the left and find an appraiser in the LA area who could check this out if you wish.

I have a box full of items from a rennaisance era hand mirror to 1930's era camel doll among other things like turn of the century bed frame w/head board and old armoir... who would I call or e-mail to find worth$$ of these items?
If you go back on our website and click on "Find an Appraiser" fill in "Los Angeles" for area and when you get the list of people look for appraisers with residential contents as their specialty and call the ones who have CAPP behind their names first and ISA second. These are the most highly trained and tested members.
We found a violin given that my grandfather had in the basement. country: Albania.
My grandfather was a Bariton, and won the gold medal in World Festival of Canto in Wienna, 1959.
Well, actually, the label inside is: Antonius Stradivarious, Cremona(here I'm not sure as the picture my mother sent is not clear..I think there's more to that word, and first three letters of Antonius are gone). and down: Fecit Anno 1731. It's not in the best shape...but it really looks old. I have pictures. I need help to find out what the it is. Need advice...I have more chances of getting killed by lighting than this violin being a real strad. contact me at: albimaks@gmail.com
