I have a complete set of Bavarian China that was my aunt's. She was married circa 1942 and I am guessing she started this set at that time. The mark has a crown over H&Co, Selb Bavaria Germany Heinrich U.S. Zone. I do not know the name of this pattern. It has three groups of what appear to be petunias spaced around the outside rim of the plate with a thin gold rim and a thin gold circle in the middle of the plate. Can you idenitfy the pattern and if so what is its value?

Your china was made at one of the several potteries in Mitterteich (Bavaria-Germany) It would be necessary for someone to examine the mark and the decoration to tell anything about your china. I would suggest you contact Replacements Ltd (http://www.replacements.com/) sending them a GOOD picture of the front and back. They will identify it for you and let you know if they have any of that pattern in stock.

I have just acquired a beautiful set of six plates, cups and saucers marked "BAVARIA" under a plain shield with a block letter "F" inside and a three-section crown above it. It also bears the numbers 13 and 4 on every piece. The pieces have large dark pink, yellow and blue flowers and green leaves around the outer edges and inside the cups. The rims are edged in gold, and there is an embossed pattern around the rims inside the gold trim and under the flowers. The cups have intricate handles closing a circle inside the usual shaped handle. Can anyone tell me anything about this beautiful pattern?

I as well, have the Daisy Bell pattern by Mitterteich, left to me by my Great Grandmother. I do not see anywhere in these posting what the china is worth? Do you have a rough estimate, I want to sell it and have no idea at what price point to start. I have a complete set of 8 including dinner plates, salad, tea cups/saucers, fruit dish and soup bowl. As well as the creamer/sugar, platter and serving bowl.

I have a tea set marked Mitterriech Bavaria. It has multiple very small, light blue, yellow and orange flowers on a white background. There is gold trim around the tea pot. The number on the bottom of the tea pot is 20632. Can you help with further info?

By Bill Carner on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 - 05:02 am:

Ms. Trout

You description of the mark certainly is Mitterteich Porcelain Factory with the black "tulip". Mitterteich is a city in Germany and there have been several factories there. They have been making dinnerware since 1918 to date. Since the piece is not marked "Western Germany" and since the mark is not just the very large "M". It would appear to be mid 20th century, before WWII. That could be the mark in use when they first designed the dinnerware. Your pieces could have been made in the 30's and 40's or 1980!! Replacements Ltd (as well as eBay and others) list your pattern. I really dont think you will be able to tell the exact date your items were made.

Bill,
Appreciate the info. Hoping if I describe the mark you can give me a more specific time frame of production. Here goes: Top center of the mark has a tulip like black outlined figure. Flanking that on either side is a twig with 3 pairs of green leaves and black dots. Between the twigs and under the tulip is a gold M. Under that it says:
MITTERTEICH
Bavaria
"Daisy Bell"
Germany
Thanks again for your help.

Hello,
I was given by my mother a lovely set of 12 cups and saucers as well as a tea pot, cream and sugar. I remember her telling me that it is probably around 50 to 60 years old. Unfortunately, she has since passed on and I don't have any further information. The cup has a gold decorative ring around the top as well as the bottom and the handle. In between are small gold flowers hanging from a vine. The vine has 2 to 3 small flowers throughout and around the cup.
The saucer also has a gold rim around it and the flowers continue throughout and around the saucer. The only info I have reads Mitterteich, Bavaria. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. rgds, Josey Varacalli

Ms Trout:

Mitterteich has been making popular-priced dinnerware since 1918. The style of the mark would give some indication of the date. The majority of their production has been post WWII.
The company is still in production.

Daisey Bell is a popular pattern. You can find excellent buys at on-line auctions.

Your dinnerware was made by Heinrich & Co. Selb, Bavaria, Germany, West Germany. The country changed names a lot!

There are a lot of china matching companies. You can send them a good photo of the front and the mark. They will tell you the pattern and indicate if they have additional pieces. The largest of these services in Replacements. Ltd, in South Carolina. Go to their web site (www.replacements.com) and it will tell you how to get this information
