I have the Japanese Lady, walking in the spring rain. She also is on a black lacqured platform,stands approximatly 15" tall, wearing a cream komona with gold and red accents, carrying a black and cream colored umbrella, encased in a black lacqured cabinet. Labeled bottom, but no numbers on the label, smaller label on the platform with a name and description. I do have another label about 3x5" in size, documentation of some sort, written in Japanese,showing four sets of numbers.
Any idea of her worth or how to determine where to get the document interpreted?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give;
Dee

Hello -could you tell me the worth of two of your dolls. One has a HUGE round hat? that hangs on her back and she has dried flowers and of course beautiful colorful fabric -oh and silver errings -I mean hairings dangling from her hair.

The other doll has a gold belt and beautiful colorful robe and what would identify her is the Japanese version Mandolin (huge).

Both dolls are 12"? and have NISHI green tag.

I recently came into possession of a Japanese Vintage Nishi Doll of the Kabuki Actor, White Lion. I'm told this is doll is from the 1950's. The original Nishi label is on the bottom of the platform and the numbers next to the label are 102. The label says Nishi ND Doll, Nishi & Co LTD, Made in Japan. The label is blue with white writing. I'd like to donate this doll to the local Japanese Museum but I have no idea of its value. The doll is 16" high and is in a glass box. The condition of the doll is excellent.

I HAVE A JAPENESE KIMONO FROM ABOUT 1910, FULL SIZE. ONE APPRAISER WHO DID NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS A WEDDING KIMONO AND WORTH ABOUT $275.00. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND AN APPRAISER IN PENNSYLVANIA OR NEW YORK TO FIND OUT REAL VALUE. I DO WANT TO SELL IT.

I have a Nishi doll that is a baby doll. It is wearing a printed kimono and a sleeveless vest.
It has a noise maker in it's belly, and came with a pillow for it's head. I have the bottom of the box it came in. The box says Nishi & Co., and has several sets of pre-printed and hand written numbers on it. My uncle brought it back for me(from Okinawa I beleive) when he was in the armed services. Does anyone have an idea of it's value? Thanks.

I PURCHASED A OLD JAPANESE ORIENTAL DOLL AT A GOOD WILL STORE FOR $2.99. I BELEIVE SHE IS A GEISHE. "GEI" MEANS ARTS OF PERFORMANCE IN JAPENESE AND "SHA" MEANS PEOPLE. GEISHA ARE PROFESSIONAL HOSTESSES. IT LOOKED BEAUTIFULL AND SORTA OLD SO I PURCHASED IT. HOPEING IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING MORE. SHE STANDS ABOUT 16 TO 17 INCHES TALL & STANDS ON A BLACK WOODEN BASE. SHE IS WEARING A BEAUTIFULL GREEN KIMONO WITH GOLD TRIM AND GOLD FLOWERS. ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE / DOLL STAND IS A LABEL THAT READS "NISHI & CO.,LTD. MADE IN JAPAN" ON THE TOP OF THE BLACK WOODEN BASE IS ANOTHER LABEL THAT IS VERY OLD, TATTERED AND RIPPED. IT READS HER NAME I THINK "Okaji" & "Okaji" "is the name of a heroine in a famous Japanese love story which is taken from the Kabuki drama" . I have looked & looked to find information on her but all I can find are people with similar dolls asking the same question. HOW OLD IS IT? AND ARE THEY WORTH ANYTHING? IF ANY ONE KNOWS ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT THIS DOLL PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

If you search under www.trocadero.com and do a refined search under Japan vintage dolls, you will find a number of images suitable for comparison purposes. There are several Japanese doll specialist dealers who advertise on the Trocadero website and you can further click on to their websites for doll society information, repair information and other matters regarding these dolls.

nishi dolls have been going here for about $175.00 depending on size and quality. some such as the more ornate dolls(holding war helmets ect)i have seen in books for the $250,00 range. hope that helps. common ones seem to be the lady with 7 hats, the drum bearing women and the one with the helmet, still all in all, good examples of these are still few and far between.

Hi, i buy Nishi geisha dolls on Ebay. Depending on the quality and size of the dolls they cover a wide price range and then of course you have the shipping costs to take into account. Most of my collection comes from America and Japan via bidding on Ebay and now im only after the more unusual dolls which are hard to find!!
