We have a FABULOUS Louis Prang chromo in its original mission oak frame with copper buttons and a copper quill pet at the top of the frame. We have contacted the hallmark historical collection curator and the Boston Public Library to obtain info on this print to no avail. This print is done by the same artist as the one in Katherine Morrison McClinton's book on page 64. It is a print that is part of the Brewery advertisement collection. The markings on the back of the print are as follows
66-D
1-1300 (give or take a few numbers)
Lower left hand corner
COPYWRITE 1895 L Prang and Company
Boston USA
Lower right hand corner Taber prang art company
Thanks for any info or if you can point us in the right direction in finding out the title of this print, the name of the artist and possible value.
We have three photos Cupid Awake, Baby Cupid, Cupid Asleep copyright is 1897. Artist is M.B. Parkinson. Looking for possible value
I have never heard of the 'Baby Cupid" print. There was a great article in one of the trade magazine about her work, and the "cupid" pictures in particular. It was either the Antique Trader or Ohio Review. Size makes a difference on the price..... Did you check with a loop to see if it is an original (no fine dots) or a one of the copies that are rampant (picture made of a series of dots). Susan
